จิ้งจอกและม้า
ชาวนาคนหนึ่ง
มีม้าในฟาร์ม มันเป็นม้าที่เคยช่วยเหลือเขา แต่ตอนนี้ มันแก่เกินกว่าจะทำงานได้ ชาวนาจึงไม่ต้องการมันอีกแล้ว ชาวนาพูดว่า “ฉันจะไม่รับเจ้ากลับมาจนกว่าเจ้าจะแข็งแรงกว่าสิงโต”
chaaw-naa khon nɨ̀ŋ
mii máa nay faam. man pen máa thîi khəəy chûay-lɨ̌a kháw. tæ̀æ tɔɔn-níi man kæ̀æ kəən kwàa ca tham-ŋaan dâay. chaaw-naa cɨŋ mây tɔ̂ŋ-kaan man ʔìik lǽæw. kháw phûut kàp man wâa “chán ca mây ráp câw klàp maa con kwàa câw ca khæ̌ŋ-rææŋ kwàa sǐŋtoo.”
A farmer
had a horse that had been an excellent faithful servant to him, but he was now grown too old to work; so the farmer did not want him anymore. He said, ’I shall not take you back again until you are stronger than a lion.’
ม้ารู้สึกเศร้า
และเดินเร่ร่อนในป่า จิ้งจอกมาเจอเข้าจึงถามขึ้น “เป็นอะไรหรือ สหาย ทำไมถึงดูโดดเดี่ยวและอมทุกข์ล่ะ” ม้าได้ตอบกลับ “อ้า เจ้านายของฉันไล่ฉันออกมา เพราะฉันช่วยงานเขาไม่ได้แล้ว เขาพูดว่า จนกว่าฉันจะแข็งแรงกว่าสิงโต เขาจะไม่รับฉันกลับไป” ถึงอย่างนั้น จิ้งจอกบอกให้ม้าร่าเริงขึ้นและพูดว่า “ฉันจะช่วยนายเอง นอนลงตรงนี้ และแกล้งตายนะ” ม้าทำตามที่จิ้งจอกบอก
máa rúu-sɨ̀k sâw
lǽ dəən rêe-rɔ̂n nay pàa. cîŋcɔ̀ɔk maa cəə khâw cɨŋ thǎam khɨ̂n “pen ʔaray rɨ̌ɨ sahǎay? thammay thɨ̌ŋ duu dòot-dìaw lǽ ʔom thúk lâ?” máa dâay tɔ̀ɔp klàp “ʔâa, câw-naay khɔ̌ɔŋ chán lây chán ʔɔ̀ɔk maa, phrɔ́ chán chûay ŋaan kháw mây-dâay lǽæw. kháw phûut wâa con kwàa chán ca khæ̌ŋ-rææŋ kwàa sǐŋtoo, kháw ca mây ráp chán klàp pay. thɨ̌ŋ-yàaŋ-nán, cîŋcɔ̀ɔk bɔ̀ɔk hây máa râa-rəəŋ khɨ̂n lǽ phûut wâa “chán ca chûay naay ʔeeŋ. nɔɔn loŋ troŋ-níi lǽ klæ̂æŋ taay ná.” máa tham taam thîi cîŋcɔ̀ɔk bɔ̀ɔk.
The poor horse was very melancholy,
and wandered up and down in the wood. Presently a fox met him: ’What’s the matter, my friend?’ said he, ’why do you look so lonely and woe-begone?’ ’Ah!’ replied the horse, ’My boss has turned me adrift because I cannot help him anymore. He said unless I become stronger than a lion he will not take me back again.’ However, the fox bid him be of good cheer, and said, ’I will help you; lie down there and pretend to be dead.’ The horse did as he was told.
จิ้งจอกวิ่งไปหาสิงโตที่อยู่ในถ้ำใกล้ๆ และบอกว่า “มีม้าตายอยู่แถวนี้ มากับฉันและนายอาจจะได้อาหารมื้อใหญ่” สิงโตดีใจมากและเดินตามจิ้งจอกไป
cîŋcɔ̀ɔk wîŋ pay hǎa sǐŋtoo thîi yùu nay thâm klây klây lǽ bɔ̀ɔk wâa “mii máa taay yùu thæ̌w-níi. maa kàp chán lǽ naay ʔàat-ca dâay ʔaahǎan mɨ́ɨ yày.” sǐŋtoo dii-cay mâak lǽ dəən taam cîŋcɔ̀ɔk pay.
The fox went straight to the lion who lived in a cave close by, and said to him, ’A little way off lies a dead horse; come with me and you may make an excellent meal of his carcass.’ The lion was greatly pleased, and set off immediately.
เมื่อมาเจอกับม้า
จิ้งจอกได้พูดขึ้นว่า “นายจะกินได้ไม่สะดวกตรงนี้ รู้อะไรไหม ฉันจะมัดหางเขาไว้กับนาย และนายจะได้ลากเขาไปกินอย่างสบายใจในถ้ำ”
mɨ̂a maa cəə kàp máa,
cîŋcɔ̀ɔk dâay phûut khɨ̂n wâa “naay ca kin dâay mây sadùak troŋ-níi. rúu ʔaray máy? chán ca mát hǎaŋ kháw wáy kàp naay lǽ naay ca dâay lâak kháw pay kin yàaŋ-sabaay-cay nay thâm.”
When they came to the horse,
the fox said, ’You will not be able to eat him comfortably here; I’ll tell you what–I will tie you fast to his tail, and then you can draw him to your den, and eat him at your leisure.’
สิงโต รู้สึกพอใจกับคำแนะนำของจิ้งจอก จึงนอนลงให้จิ้งจอกผูกกับม้า แต่จิ้งจอกกลับผูกขาของสิงโตไว้แน่นมากจนสิงโตไม่สามารถแก้ได้
sǐŋtoo rúusɨ̀k phɔɔ-cay kàp kham nǽnam khɔ̌ɔŋ cîŋcɔ̀ɔk, cɨŋ nɔɔn loŋ hây cîŋcɔ̀ɔk phùuk kàp máa. tæ̀æ cîŋcɔ̀ɔk klàp phùuk khǎa khɔ̌ɔŋ sǐŋtoo wáy næ̂n mâak con sǐŋtoo mây sǎamâat kæ̂æ dâay.
This advice pleased the lion, so he laid himself down quietly for the fox to make him fast to the horse. But the fox managed to tie his legs together and bound all so hard and fast that he could not set himself free.
จิ้งจอกให้สัญญาณม้า “ไป ไป ไป !!” ม้าลุกขึ้น วิ่งออกไปและลากสิงโตไปด้วย สิงโตคำรามและดิ้น แต่ม้าก็ปล่อยให้สิงโตคำรามต่อไป และวิ่งไปที่บ้านของชาวนา
cîŋcɔ̀ɔk hây sǎnyaan máa “pay pay pay !!” máa lúk khɨ̂n, wîŋ ʔɔ̀ɔk pay lǽ lâak sǐŋtoo pay dûay. sǐŋtoo khamraam lǽ dîn, tæ̀æ máa kɔ̂ɔ plɔ̀y hây sǐŋtoo khamraam tɔ̀ɔpay lǽ wîŋ pay thîi bâan khɔ̌ɔŋ chaaw-naa.
The fox gave a sign to the horse, “Go Go Go!!” Then up he sprang, and moved off, dragging the lion behind him. The beast began to roar and bellow, but the horse let him sing on, and made his way quietly over the fields to his master’s house.
ม้าวิ่งไปถึงบ้านของชาวนา “เขาอยู่นั่นไง เจ้านาย” ม้าได้พูดขึ้น
máa wîŋ pay thɨ̌ŋ bâan khɔ̌ɔŋ chaaw-naa “kháw yùu nân ŋay, câw-naay”, máa dâay phûut khɨ̂n.
The horse arrived at the farmer’s house ’Here he is, master,’ said he.
เมื่อชาวนาเห็นม้าตัวนั้น
เขารู้สึกยอมรับ และพูดขึ้นว่า “เจ้าจะได้อยู่ในคอกและได้รับการดูแล” ม้าแก่ตัวนั้นก็มีอาหารกินและอยู่ที่นั่นจนมันตาย
mɨ̂a chaaw-naa hěn máa tua nán,
kháw rúu-sɨ̀k yɔɔm-ráp, lǽ phûut khɨ̂n wâa “câw ca dâay yùu nay khɔ̂ɔk lǽ dâay-ráp kaan-duu-lææ.” máa kæ̀æ tua nán kɔ̂ɔ mii ʔaahǎan kin lǽ yùu thîi-nân con man taay.
When the farmer saw his old servant,
his heart relented, and he said, ’Thou shalt stay in thy stable and be well taken care of.’ And so the poor old horse had plenty to eat, and lived–till he died.
