Although now you can see the difference between kàw (เก่า) and kæ̀æ (แก่) for their common meaning, these two words also give deeper meaning when they are combined with some certain words.In addition, kàw (เก่า) also mean experienced or skillful when combined with the word mɨɨ (มือ) which means hands – mɨɨ-kàw (มือเก่า). On the other hand, when kàw (เก่า) is used with the word hǔa (หัว) which means a head – hǔa-kàw (หัวเก่า), it means conservative.
For example:

– kháw pen nák-thennít mɨɨ-kàw, mǎy-chây mɨɨ-mày.
– เขาเป็นนักเทนนิสมือเก่า ไม่ใช่มือใหม่
– He is a professional tennis player, not a rookie.
(However, I personally have not heard people use this word often.)

– nay thúk prathêet mii tháŋ khon hǔa-kàw lǽ khon hǔa-mày.
– ในทุกประเทศมีทั้งคนหัวเก่าและคนหัวใหม่
– In every country, there are both conservative and non-conservative people.
There is another way you can use both words by combining them together – kàw-kæ̀æ (เก่าแก่) which mean ancient, old (for long long time).
